Our company had purchased two sets of Seagate FreeAgent Xtreme 1.5TB eSATA harddisk (Model: ST315005FPM203-RK) recently, and facing problem in using such harddisk.
We are using the eSATA harddisk connecting with a Adaptec AAR-1225SA eSATA RAID card in a HP ML350G5 server. The server is using Microsoft Windows 2003 Standard SP1 as OS. No RAID had been built. We found that when we connecting the harddisk to the server, the following problems exist:
1. After around 1 hour of the server power-up, the server reboots unexpectedly. The harddisk connects with the server during power-up.
2. When the server reboot unexpectedly, the harddisk cannot be recognized by the server. Only shut down the server and power-down the harddisk, and then power-up the harddisk and server again can let the server recognize the harddisk again.
Then I have tried to update the system BIOS of the server and RAID card to the latest available version, the server seems hadn't reboot unexpectedly again (need further observation), but the harddisk disconnected unexpectedly from the server after around 1 hour of server power-up. After I power-down the harddisk and power-up it again, the server can recognize the harddisk again. After around 1 hour, it disconnected unexpectedly again and I need to perform the above action again to let the system recognize the harddisk.
No such problem exists when I use USB interface, but since the USB speed is too slow it cannot be a solution to my situtation.
Is anybody also facing such problem? Thank you for everyone's help!
