codytone, I suggest that you follow the instructions in the aforementioned URLs., but don't remove the PCB -- just tell us the error message, if any.
There are several problems that afflict 7200.11 drives including the BSY bug, G-List overflow (which results in 0 LBAs), and the "pending bug" (which produces a BSY symptom). The error message should tell us more about the problem.
To make the job easier, you could use a TTL RS232 adapter based on Prolific's PL2303 bridge IC. Many come with the Tx and Rx terminals already terminated.
