I have a freeagent desk 1.5TB drive. I received this about 10 months ago for a failed drive. However when I try to warranty it it tells me that I need to contact the retailer. I thought this was the retailer since it is a seagate product what gives?

Try just calling support or emailing them, it might be a glitch in the system that's causing that sort of issue.
