Uninstalled Memeo now FreeAgent 1tb drive won't work

Hello,

I need lots of help please.  I have a seagate freeagent pro 1 tb that I have been using for about a month on my Mac OSX.  The last week I have been getting extremely frustrated with the Memeo software that came with it because it seemed to be interrupting my final cut pro to where I couldn't even render a file, so last night I uninstalled it and then just shut down.

So today I start things back up excited to work uninterrupted by that horrible back up software and my Mac will not read the drive, not only will it not read it, it REFUSES to read it.  At first it just wasn't reading it, then I unplugged it several times to make sure that it hadn't fallen asleep and all of a sudden my Mac comes up with an error saying that the drive is not readable.  What happened?

By the way, I tried to reinstall memeo, but that did absolutely nothing to help.  Am I being punished for daring to uninstall in the first place?

Please help!

Re: Uninstalled Memeo now FreeAgent 1tb drive won't work

I have the same drive running on a PC WinXP.  I got bored with Memeo coming up at startup and I wanted to use Comodo Backup anyway so I uninstalled it.  It made no difference to drive connection or recognition and nor should it, It is only a piece of backup software.

I suggest uninstall any remaining seagate software and re-install (assuming you copied it to your internal HDD).

It shouldn't be necessary to install any of the seagate software anyway,  The computer should recognise and access a drive (I assume MACs work hardware addition the same).

It sounds like the drive has a problem.  I'd love to help but I know nothing about MACs.

Good luck
Jan
