I am a new customer and have been attempting to find the Encryption software going on 2 hours now. It seems that Seagate keeps this information under lock and key. It seems to be a good hard drive but I have never purchased hardware where I had to spend time looking for software such as Desktop Manager and Encryption. I think it's Seagates hush hush way to make customers nuts and keep you on there site looking for something that isent there. Sorry I couldnt help. Oh and of course the chat tech feature is not working today among other things. Not a good start for a new customer Segate. You should still try to have decent customer service even if you own more then half the market place.

You have to call customer services and verify the drive with them, then they will send you the file.

Yes, we do. It's not that we don't want to put it out there, but here's the thing. There is a certain country with an emerging marketplace and a strong allergy to its citizens' being able to keep secrets from the government that won't allow us to market our drives there unless we protect encryption abilities, making them available only to people who are not in that country.
That's why you have to Contact Support to get the encryption-enabled software. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
