The instructions were to wipe it, thats what you've done by the sound of it, if you need data back you need a recovery program to scan the drive as all the data is still there but rendered unreadable to the O/S as it's been classified as writeable again, don't use the drive until you have a recovery program in place to scan it with, the more you write to it the less of your data will remain readable.
