i'm also wondering if its possible for me to replace these with copper conductors.

Thank you for your time and help!:manhappy:

Re: seagate 2Tb external hdd pcb problem

Is it possible? Yes. Is it a good idea? No.

The reason for fusible links is to prevent serious damage. Better to look for why you're getting too much current or overvoltage.

thanks for the reply!:smileyhappy: well i have some how realised that someone from my family has probably used the wrong plug.:smileyfrustrated:  so i might be able to solder a copper wire if i didnt find the correct component or to find chip ferrite bead inductors from somewhere...?

Re: seagate 2Tb external hdd pcb problem

i had a look at the type of inductors but not sure which one to get, here is the link:

thanks!

Re: seagate 2Tb external hdd pcb problem

The inductors have burnt up because the 12V TVS diode has gone short circuit. My suggestion would be to replace the inductors with wire links, and remove the shorted diode.

See http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/HDD/TVS_diode_FAQ.html

Re: seagate 2Tb external hdd pcb problem

[ Edited ]

Hi Guys,
I had a problem with my PC and I had to get the HD to use the work. I bought a SATA adapter cable with power to do so. But it seems that the quality of power force was not good and my PCB apparently burned into two components, as shown in the photo.

I wonder if it is possible to consult purchasing new components? Or no way, just like getting a PCB (photo of my PCB)? Smallest me seems like a capacitor or inductor, and the largest, it seems to be an TVS 12V diodo, the image shown by fzabkar.
If I can do the repair, what is the specification of these components so that I can buy and try to replace?

Specifications:

HD Seagate Barracuda LP 1.5TB

ST31500541AS

S/N: [Edited: Removed personal information per the community rules and regulations.]

P/N: 9TN15R-301

Firmware: CC34

Date Code: 11182

PCB: 100536501 REV A

2D barcode: 4778T

Does the solution yourba would be the same for me? Confirming: would make a bridge wire in the inductor and 12V TVS diode withdraw that is shorted?

Re: seagate 2Tb external hdd pcb problem

We have this PCB.

When you get this PCB, you need move your original PCB's BIOS to the replacement PCB. You can move the BIOS from your original PCB by using hot-air gun, then solder it on the replacement board. Please refer: http://www.datarecoveryunion.com/hard-drive-rom-chip-swapreplacement/.  Or you can find the electronics repair shop to help you.
