Hi, I am new to Seagate, and I have a little trouble. I purchased the FreeAgent Go external hard drive 500Gb.
1.) Can I view the files that I backed up? I just want to make sure there are no duplicates and that everything
transfered properly.
2.) How do you delete files on your external drive that you no longer need?
I have tried looking over the manuals and troubleshooting guides and I am not finding any answers
Please help!

open up my computer or computer, youll see the drive letter there. double click on it and youll see the saved files just like you saved them
you can either drag and drop them or copy and paste or whatever.
Just highlight with your mouse and then press Delete on the keyboard and it will delete the files or folders

Thank you for your reply.
I tried doing that and nothing shows up in the drive. Does that mean my files were not backed up?
I stoped the process about half way through cause it was backing up files that I do not want stored, but the drive is showing a lot lower free space amount like it did back them up?

Hi Amber, I too just got one (1Tb.) and installed the manager software. I found it somewhat perplexing too
not quite sure how I want to use it yet but directed it to grab a few hundred Gb. It was taking forever and when I stopped it..it showed nothing saved? So I grabbed like 120Gb. of stuff...problem is it took like 24-26 hrs!
and then when I check for a visual...I too see no files saved but the drives capacity seems to have done its job?? I also chose to encrypt so I'm not sure if that plays a role in the backup's invisibility......
So again I'm flirting with the idea of maybe formatting/ removing Seagate Manager S/W and simply using the old drag & drop routine hoping to again be able to rely on seeing my backup.

I resorted to using the click and drag method, without using the Seagate Manager, and I was able to transfer and
view my files.
I was able to move pictures, and iTunes this way, but my videos are transferring as JPEG images and not videos.

You do not need to use their software.
Freebyte or Comodo backup are free programs you can use and create backup profiles.
The software will backup anything you point it to, no restrictions like the supplied software.
With Freebyte you only need to create the backup folder name on the external or use a folder already there.
I don't think either will do encryption...
