2.20 messes up the slideshow function

2.20 messes up the slide show function.  I get to a certain slides, freeze and have to unplug unit.  Some slides read with various color lines across them.  Go back and it is not there so it is not a file problem.  Also every time you take the drive off of the Theater+ and go to your computer, the computer wants to scan for errors.  I go back to 1.55 (you can!) and it flies past that slide like before and your computer goes back to not wanting to scan for errors. Also all the slides are read correctly.  Both versions still have the file to file sound problems but the good old left arrow fixes that.  Sound will always be iffy when it goes to the next file in a directory.  Have to live with that I guess.  Stick with 1.55 for now or at least check your unit for how it shows your photos with 2.20.

Also, regardless of which FW version, don't use slide show for screen saver. It will freeze at some point. Use the Seagate logo for screen saver instead.

Re: 2.20 messes up the slideshow function

I was not referring to screensaver slideshow.  I was referring to just showing photos and starting a slide show.  Surprised no one else has mentioned this.  I guess not many use it for showing photos.  1.55 is solid as a rock for showing still photos, 2.2 not so much in fact really bad.

Re: 2.20 messes up the slideshow function

same with me. I have pics of a DSLR on my hard disk, 10 MP resolution.

Two hours ago i was "forced" to update via network to version 1.55.

Now, under version info , i find version 2.20.

Slide shows are freezing, mainly after 3rd or 5th picture. Player doesn't show any reaction. I have to unplug.

I allready deleted all files from the hd, including the trashbin. I hoped, all indices would be build up again and the problem would disappear. But it didn't.

I'm really down, because it's very important to me showing and watching the photos on my tv.

Yeah. Slideshow has problem for sure. I was only adding that even with the slideshow working OK in FW 1.55, we'd want to avoid using it in screen saver. I've found that it's perhaps another bug.  Because I have used slideshow before without problem, but when I set it in the screen saver, the FAT+ would freeze sometime when it can't display a certain picture.

Re: 2.20 messes up the slideshow function

You can go back to 1.55 easily.  They have it in the downloads because you need 1.55 to update to 2.2.  I went back to 1.55 and all is well.  I never intend to update firmware again as the things I want to do work OK with 1.55.  Make sure you keep 1.55 forever since you may need it.  Can't you keep it from updating over the network by settings?  I don't use it hooked up to a network so I am OK.  2.2 also makes computers see errors on the hard drive when you plug it in on your computer.  1.55 doesn't.  Both versions have the flaw that when the unit goes from one video file to the next the sound may not start.  Just hit the left error key which goes back to the beginning and the sound will work.  I can live with that because photos showing works correctly.

So try going back to 1.55 and never changing it again.  Or if you do try a firmware later than 2.2 when it comes out, keep 1.55 so you can go back.

Re: 2.20 messes up the slideshow function

Good morning (this is ambiguous:smileywink:) , also from Germany,

There's no 1.55_EMEA version as download file existing. Also I didn't see it online. Someone told that it was visible for an online update but after installation however there was 2.20 in the FAT+ installed...

Re: 2.20 messes up the slideshow function

Both versions have the flaw that when the unit goes from one video file to the next the sound may not start. Just hit the left error key which goes back to the beginning and the sound will work.

So, I tried this in 2.20 EMEA and there's no problem with sound in in one video file and skip to the next in most cases. I tried this several times with files on USB disk and also with files which are on a network device (Fritzbox UPnP server, Fritzbox media server, second USB disk drive connected to the USB port of the Fritzbox).

But I also saw that one or two files, and only for these files, sound is not detected in the right way. This is also reproducible. Perhaps it's also a probvlem with the media file itself.

Re: 2.20 messes up the slideshow function

So, i tried something.

I deleted ALL photos (more than 7000) from the disk.

Then i copied 100 pictures on the disk, scaled to 50 %. Each photo had less than 1 MB.

So, the slideshow was able to show round about 25 pics, then went to freeze.

After a cold reboot (unplug and replug) it only managed to show 8 (!) pics before freezing.

While freezing the fat+ reacts to only one push on a button of the remote control. The "stop" signal (rectangle) is shown on the screen, but the foto still remains. No more action is possible.

It seems, that while showing the photos the internal memory gets full. But this is only my suspect.

I'm really fed up.

Going down to 1.45 EMEA is not possible, or is it? On which way could i get the firmware back to 1.45 or 1.55 (1.55 seems not to be an official EMEA-Version).

I would be glad, if anyone could give me a helpful hint.
