You will notice that in the downloads it says you must install 1.55 first. That is highlighted. Click on it and there the download for 1.55 is.
To update to firmware 2.20, your FreeAgent Theater+ must currently have firmware version 1.55. If your FreeAgent Theater+ currently has firmware 1.45 or lower, you must first install firmware 1.55.
You cannot go back before 1.55 if you have installed 1.55. So go back to 1.55. Slideshow fully functional.

Not for the EMEA version. There is no 1.55 available for this. The EMEA 2.20 is all needed to reflash.
We need Seagate to provide the EMEA 1.55 for download if there is one (some user has reported that it was available for Online Upgrade only).

Too bad about no EMEA version of 1.55 available. If I couldn't have gone back to 1.55, I would have had to trash my Theater+. Bestbuy has a bunch of WD media players for $99. I would have been forced to get that or give up photography since I only take photos and videos with my Sony HX1 to display on HD TV. I suppose that a new FW version will fix this problem eventually. I however plan to never ever ever again again update my firmware from 1.55. Current firmware serves me fine. Hope things go well for the rest of you.
I have contacted Seagate mentioning the problem and this forum. Hope it will help all of us.

Chuckster,
If it's that much important to you, I'd suggest you even remove the possibility of accidental upgrading (sometime when the FAT+ rebooted, or you lost power, the Auto Upgrade is reset back to ON). Here is how to do that, courtesy of wigout:
As for the address blocking- you can often configure a router to not display certain websites AND/OR certain web pages. Thus if you don't want your fat+ to upgrade autmatically online ever- block that page: http://www.seagate.com/support/software/theaterappliance.xml using your router's internal settings. -wigout

I never hook up to a network so it will not automatically update. Just a USB hard drive.

Seagate Support asked me to reset the fat+ by pressing the reset button on the back of the fat+. With this they hoped to solve the problem with the slideshow. ![]()
Now my slideshow was able to show 5 (in words: five!) photos, then went to.... correct... to freeze.

I wish i could afford to buy another mediaplayer...
Will there ever be a correction of this firmware/revision?
Will Seagate ever stop using automatic update as an beta-testing plattform and only provide tested versions and revisions?

Are you located where you can go back to 1.55? My guess is that they will have to fix this one in another frimware update.

I wrote to the support for an "official" Position, it is unacceptable that no one answers on the forum. Seagate has a great responsibility towards its customers

I am giving it a shot. Anyway I can make it any clearer to Brandon? This is my e-mail.

2.2 is useless for those who show photos as a slide show.
2.20_EMEA is installed to my FAT+ (upgraded from 1.45_EMEA with Cold method).
Never used the unit as picture player with slideshow function.
Due to all the strange things everybody is reporting in this forum about the 2.20 firmware I also checked out today the slideshow possibilities.
1. I have 150 movies with folder.jpg as covers on it. In the movie section after some time the Screen Saver is activated and shows all covers in a slideshow -> No freezes, everything is working! ![]()
2. Then I copied around 1400 pictures to the USB-drive, made with my 4 MPixel Canon PowerShot (old but good), 1.3 GB data at all, each file around 1 MB size in jpg format. Starting the slideshow with 1452 pictures and covers at all (2 seconds interval with all "morphing" effects) -> No freezes, everything working! ![]()
3. Testing the movie file skipping again with the remote. There's no sound bug on my unit. I can skip between all my movie files and my AV Receiver detects the Dolby Digital 5.1 coding and also the DTS 5.1 coding and plays the audio without problems.
The FAT+ is connected with YUV (720p 50Hz) to my Beamer and with S/PDIF (S/PDIF RAW) to my AV Receiver.
Is it possible that there's a difference between 2.20 EMEA firm and 2.20 US/APA firm? I think that the new bootloader is part of the 2.20_EMEA version instead of the 2.20_US version, because the new bootloader already comes with 1.55 US...(this is the reason why US/APA users have to install 1.55 FIRST)
At all I have NO PROBLEMS with 2.20_EMEA. The bugs with HDMI and SPDIF are solved.
And no again, I am not working for Seagate....
Any comments? Should I check also other things?
