Together we are 4 now, reporting a freezing slideshow under version 2.20.
So this seems to be a systematical bug in the firmware-version 2.20.
Flashing cold or hot doesn't help. Downscaling fotos doesn't help.
Connecting the fat+ via yuv instead of hdmi doesn't help.
The only way to get a working slideshow is downgrade to version 1.55. This version is only available for the us and cananda (US).
The version for Europe, Asia and the pacific area (EMEA and APAC) never has been distributet.
I downgraded the EMEA 2.20 to the US 1.55 and this is working "ok". There are several bugs in 1.55 (sorting files and so on), but slideshow is working and music is playing along. No more freezes.
I don't use any video or film-playback on my fat+, just photos and MP3.
We are 2 now with working slideshows after the downgrade to 1.55 US. It seems that the problem can be solved that way, but you have to accept the other bugs in 1.55 (read the regarding thread).
Contacting the seagate support brings no other solution, they only want to exchange the asset.
Note: if you want to downgrade your fat+ to 1.55, please make sure that the option for automatic updates is set to "off".

I'm using FW 2.20 US. Made a new folder on external drive "Pictures". Placed 100 images in the folder. From main menu I selected Pictures. Set the slideshow timing to 5 seconds and put it on random play. It's been running for 2 hours no
Deleted all pictures in the Picture folder as they mostly were less than 700K. Replaced them with pictures over 2 megs in size. Ran slide show again with same settings as above. Still no freeze after 2 hours.
Why doesn't mine freeze up? I feel left out!

That's excactly what we're discussing about.
But since noone was able to find a reason, those, whose fat+ is freezing, have to find a solution.
The only way to reable slideshows was to reacitvate 1.55 US.
If there was a solution based on version 2.20 EMEA, i would be the first to use it.
- Connection via HDMI or YUV seems NOT to be the reason for freezing.
- Filesize of the pictures seems NOT to be the reason for freezing
- Flashing cold or hot seems NOT to be the reason.
- other settings (1080p, 720p) seems NOT to be the reason.
Any other idea for possible reasons for the freeze?
I'm not going to update to 2.20 EMEA.

Is it possible that it have something to do with the header of the jpg files the digi cams saves the pictures?I have no problems with files from my Canon Powershot S50.
Perhaps other users can also tell us the source of their pictures.
I have no problems with slide show and EMEA 2.20 but tested only fires around 1 MB so far.

The first 100 files I used were pics of old cars I grabbed off the internet. I deleted them and copied about 50 files that were shot with my Canon Rebel on it's highest setting.
I'm trying to help here, not bragging....
Maybe somone who has the problem could zip up several of the files they are using and put them somewhere where I could download them and try them on my FAT+ so we can see if it is the files causing the problem.....????

Perhaps zacha can upload 5 files which run into the slide show problem (sure there should be no personal information inside :-)
I would also test these files on my FAT+ with 2.20_EMEA.
Or someone else who has the slideshow problem.

I am having freezing issues as well. Funnily enough I haven't upgraded to 2.20 yet. Should I hold off on the update?
If you are not on 1.55, try it. Rock solid for me for using photos.
