I can't believe Seagate would release a media player with no network connection. In this day and age?

Yeah, it is a bit odd alright, but my main gripe is the clunkiness of the user interface. I bought one to replace an argosy that was pushing 5 years of age, and I can't believe how similarly basic the UI is. Hoping someone will be working on a firmware mod! Or maybe i'll be able to skin the GUI at the very least, it's pretty poor.

Modding would not be easy for a media player without network interface. Its too much trouble. Even if someone opens the box and discovers some type of connections, hardware mods would be necessary so that the PC used in modding would be able to communicate to the OS inside.

Re: Can/Do we post about Goflex Cinema here?

i'm thinking more along the lines of editing the base firmware and then performing an upgrade to my modded firmware. mostly to change the way the player sorts and filters the files, at the moment it just throws all the tv and movies files together in the videos sections, which makes browsing a real pain. first thing is to find the firmware online though, it's pretty hard to find any info about this player anywhere

Re: Can/Do we post about Goflex Cinema here?

I also have the Seagate Goflex Cinema (1tb version)..

I totally agree that the interface is absolutely horrible, Its an HD player..

How can the GUI be so bad. Its a pain to get to your movies, music of pictures

Further performance is very good.

I hope something can be done to change this

Re: Can/Do we post about Goflex Cinema here?

Hi i just bought a seagate goflex cinema 1tb, the thing is that i have many issues with the factory  firmware:i must every time i want to see a movie to set the subtitle AND subtitling encoding to greek from the beginning again and again.....also the screen ration it dosent change to 16:9 or letterbox is stuck to a big screen mode or something like that as result to cut the second line of the subtitle. the GUI has poor quality and generaly is HORRIBLE!!!

If anyone want to buy goflex cinema is good to think it again!!!! or wait until the improved GUI is available....

factory firmware version (01.00.234.0069)

Re: Can/Do we post about Goflex Cinema here?

Same here: factory firmware version 01.00.234.0069. And then it also says in the menu "u-boot version: 234" (which is probably the value in the firmware code anyway). Or at least I think that's what is says - very hard to read with the small blurry fonts (they're doubled and overlapping).

If someone knows of any firmware update or any other way to tweak the fonts, I would be very greatful.
