I've got a goflex media server but don't think I've followed the right set up instructions - or have a duff USB cable
I connected the media server up and powered it up, then installed the software from the CD in the box.
However reading the instructions I should have got a dashboard from the built in software by connecting it to my PC before I switched it on.
I've tried the factory default and holding in the reset button and powering up - but non of my machines (3) seem to see a USB device it also remembers the IP address I gave it - so don't think I am wiping it's memory either
If I plug a USB stick into the cable with an gender changer then it sees that, so do n't think the cable is at fault.
Does anyone know a way to get the mediaplayer back to default ?
Also I can navigate around with the remote control and can find my machines over the network - but I can't find a way to create short cuts or enter credentials for authenticating against my PC.
thx in advance

found it. You put the latest firmware on a memory stick (on the root) power off and power on with it inserted whilst hodling in the reset button.
The sharing issues were down to the PC end and asking for authentication on connecting.
