Hello, All -
What had been a properly-working FreeAgent Theater + suddenly became just a Netflix streaming device.
I got the device from Newegg the end of December and had it up and running on our (wired) network within days. I'm using D-Link DNS-321 and DNS-323 network storage with 1.5 and 2.0 TByte drives. All was well - I've got about 2 TBytes of DVD's (that I own) archived to the devices in .iso format. Between Thursday evening when my wife watched "War of the Worlds" (2005) and yesterday morning - something happened:
-> FAT+ no longer recognizes the shared (DNS-32x) folders on the network as it did previously
-> FAT+ recognizes the DNS-32x folders if I change them to Upnp Media Servers and it sees the movie.iso files but when selected the FAT+ "thinks" for about 15 seconds - then presents the circle with a slash in it - then goes back to the directory listing.
-> PCs in the house can recognize the shared movie folders as before and can play the movie.iso files with the appropriate codec.
-> I tried back-revving the FAT+ to FW v2.20 with no change of behavior, then tried returning to FW v2.43 - no change, still will not play the movie.iso files.
I have opened a case with Seagate - any wisdom from the community?
Thank you all in advance for any assistance.

I have a feeling it's related to IP addresses. Do you have the FAT/NAS set up on static IP or dhcp? I recommend giving them a static address, rebooting the router (and devices), and giving it another whirl.

Thank You, prairiedog -
Yes, I've re-initialized the entire LAN to no avail - I had originally set up the FAT+ as static IP and that worked fine for 3 1/2 months (until Friday the 22nd) I now have it set to pull a DHCP but on neither setting will it play the movie.iso files. My setup is relatively simple - Router is connected to a cable modem and the router address is 192.168.1.1 - FAT+ was set to static IP of 1.5 and the D-Lin units are 1.15 & 1.16 - all PCs on the LAN are DHCP in the range of 1.100 ~ 1.149 and the WAP is 1.200 and just that - a WAP with no DHCP or anything else. Printers are 1.90 & 1.97.
Note that the FAT+ can pull a directory list from the DNS devices - but it will not play the *.iso files which it would do previously. There have been no changes to the LAN since I installed the FAT+ in late December. There are no IP conflicts on the LAN.
The peeling of the onion continues.........

Odd. I assume no updates were done on the NAS's. I also assume you used the cold method to reinstall the firmware.
Can you share a folder from a pc and confirm that works?
If you search for NAS on the forum, there are a few other folks reporting issues, one recently.
I wish I had more answers. Do you know if the FAT+ 2.23 update was applied between the last movie that worked and the problem? If auto-update is on the FAT, turn it off. I don't update unless something is broken, and still running on 2.20 here (no NAS though, just shared network folders).

Do you have any *.avi or *.mpeg4 file on the NAS that you can try? Also, try flashing the same FW version using cold method to clear up all settings, it helps to do that (most of the time).

So this morning I moved over an .avi clip and a .wmv file to the D-Link NAS, also a VTS group of a DVD.
The FAT+ plays the .avi and the .wmv files with no problems across the network and still errors out with the black circle & diagonal line on the .iso & VTS files.
Spousal unit has repossessed the entertainment center - no further troubleshooting for a while.
Film at 11........

Flash using the cold method (see my sig) we have mentioned a few times and report back.

Flashed via the COLD method - both FW v2.20 & v2.43 to no avail........
But thanks......

But thanks......
Is there version 2.43 available or is it a typo?

Typo - my apologies.
