Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

I would re-install the firmware using the cold method

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

A firmware installation had nothing to with the problem. Also, I didn't have to reinstall the firmware for the problem to go away.

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

Which firmware are you on ?

Check this , go to FAT+ setting and go to firmware update and see which setting is on ...either USB or internet ?

Chances are if you have not done any firmware update before and the update was set to internet , then the FAT+ realizes it needs to check for new versions and it keeps trying to go online for updates , which in your case doesn't find network , so it remains idle waiting for connection..

On the other hand, if you did perform firmware updates and your FAT+ setting was set to USB , chances are it didn't register correctly and hence a new fresh (cold method) firmware update would be advised.

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

I'm pretty fair at loading firmware as I'm a UNIX system admin. The FAT+ is at firmware level 01.27.270595U. It's on the second firmware level since I got it. I'm looking forward to 45!

Although the FAT+ hasn't powered itself on for several weeks I will chalk it up to a bug (or condition) that got cleared when I hit the reset button. Note once again that it didn't take me to factory resets.

I am going to click "Accept as a Solution" even though I don't "absolutely" know. I hope I'm done with this thread.

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

Problem still exits even with latest 1.55 FW and also used cold method without any benefits.

Unit turns on by itself, no interference with any other remote.

This isn't exclusive to the 1.55FW... this has been happening since I bought the thing.  I've tried all FW from 1.26 to 1.55.

Thanks

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

My unit mysteriously stopped powering itself on. Looking back, I'm wondering if there was a ground potential (earth for non-US) caused by the way I connected the different components. My suggestion is to make sure all your components are on the same strip or outlet.

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

I tried cold method, resetting the player, tried various different FW revisions, changed power outlets, tried disconnecting components like ethernet / usb drive .... And the issue still persists, my player turns itself back on within few minutes of powring it off.

Do you have your FAT+ connected through HDMI ?

If yes then , to what direct to the LCD or through an AVR ?

If AVR , which AVR ?

For testing , and if you are connecting through HDMI , remove the HDMI cable and connect your FAT+ directly to the LCD through component and see if it does turn it self on again or not ...

pls report back, I might have a solution for you.

One more question ...

Do you use the FAT+ original remote , or do you use a universal one like logitec ?

If you are using the original remote , how far do you put it when FAT+ is turned off ?

Tip : to cut down other remotes interference with your fat+ , do this , put a screen protector (transparent thin sticker , similar to the one you use for your mobile screen to protect) on the FAT+ IR port, I can't explain it but it does cut down significantly the interferences it acts like a filter.

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

[ Edited ]

Got mine this month & it updated & it does the same thing.  Turns itself back on. But once it's off the second time it doesn't come back on. It doesn't have any drives attached to it.

I also noticed the power went off last night & the FAT+ was on this am. So it appears after a power outage it turns itself on. I don't want this feature.

I'll try a reset. Which reset is suggested?  It seems it resets to various states based on how long you push the reset button?

Re: FAT+ now powers itself on.

I think this is a bug as described in the thread linked above.

I notice it when I turn off device - I am using the harmony remote so it goes through and powers off that and powers up/changes other inputs, etc.

Anyway, after I switch to, say, watch TV whenever I hit channel up (or maybe its the dvr button) the FAT+ turns back on.  I also have the same experience that when it goes off the second time it stays off.

It's probably related to the FAT+ receiving an IR remote code that turns it on, and it's probably more than just it's own off/on "frequency".

I don't believe there is a solution, alot of things have been tried.
