Starting on 8/14/12, FAT+ will no longer login to my Youtube accounts. After entering the password, it just hangs and never actually logs in. I tested several Youtube accounts and the same thing happened. I'm thinking that Youtube finally changed something major enough where logging into accounts no longer works in FAT+. I can still search Youtube and stream videos fine, I just can't login to access my favorites and other account elements. Is this happening to anyone else?

I've already been using the most recent firmware update (2.23). I wonder if Seagate will offer a new firmware update to include a fix for this Youtube issue. Does anyone know if Seagate is going to continue to support the FAT+?

If it wasn't for the user-community this thing would have very little knowledgeable support. Don't count on Seagate to post a fix for this in the near future. You should submit a support ticket as the agents on this forum have no direct communications with product support.

Thanks prairiedog. I submitted a support ticket, and their only suggestion was to do a cold reinstall of the firmware, but  they did not know if Youtube had changed anything regarding their login process that would affect the FAT+. When I replied on Tuesday to let them know that the cold firmware reinstall had no effect on this problem, I never heard back from them.

Ah well, with all its quirks and bugs, there's still a lot that I like about my FAT+, but I will need to find a media player that I can access my Youtube account with. I've heard some good things about the WD TV Live Media Player, and the price is definitely right.

I agree. I only use the FAT+ to stream video (mostly mkv) from my NAS. It's rock freaking solid for that.

In our household, we use a Roku to do video streaming of Hulu+, Amazon, Youtube, etc. I also have a WDTV Live plus which is pretty similar to the FAT+ - nicer interface too. Seems the FAT+ could be a really awesome device if they just spent a little more developmental time with it to improve the interface. I don't think there's any dedicated engineers working on it with any regularity... such as keeping up with content provider site changes, or adding Hulu, Amason, etc. Just being a "current" device would give Seagate a huge advantage over WD.

THe new Vizio Co-Star looks to be a very promising device. (link)

Indeed, the Vizio Costar seems to be a great device for the cost :-) Costar is even more versatile than Apple TV. It's just a little bit harder than other media players to integrate into Home Theater because the remote is Bluetooth (i.e. one would need a IR to BT converter). It would be a perfect bedroom media player / web surfer, right out of the box. It's currently sold out :-)

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the bluetooth. Kinda sucks as it won't work with my Harmony remotes.

I almost hope one of my 4 media players craps out just so I can pick up the Vizio. I honestly haven't looked into it really deeply - I assume it'll connect to a share, though if not it's just another Roku.

Yeah, if you add the cost of the IR-BT converter, it would be twice the cost to get a FAT+/GoFlexTV :-) However, there is another Google TV device that is even better: the Pivos XIOS This has IR remote and run Android XBMC with HW accelerator. I would get this instead of the Vizio.

Note that these Android TV devices are really a class above the FAT+/GoFlex TV, so they cost twice as much. Hope the moderators don't mind we talk about them here :-)
