FreeAgent Desktop 2TB is not scanned and indexed in FAT+

Dear All,

I just bought FAT+ STCEM201-RK (without disk) and 2TB FreeAgent Desktop.

I formatted the drive (NTFS, 4kb cluster size) and put all my mp3s that took around 1.8TB.

Then connected it to FAT+ and turn the FAT+ on. I saw spinning icon for one second. I went to Music (and Video and Picture) and saw nothing.

The drive is recognized by FAT+ cause I can browse manually using menu and play music. It just did not want to indexed / scanned the drive and so the mp3s are not listed in Music.

Have tested on both usb plug - rear and front - but no luck.

I tried using smaller drive: Hitachi 320GB and it was just fine. The spinning icon worked for minute and the mp3s were listed in the Music.

Downloaded the latest firmware and updated FAT+, but the problem still appear.

Any suggestion how to resolve this? Please help.

Thank you,

Re: FreeAgent Desktop 2TB is not scanned and indexed in FAT+

Try this ,

While the FAT+ is off , unhook your 2TB usb drive and hook it to a PC or a laptop

go to explorer and  delete the folder names .Theater

hook it back to FAT+ and then power on ...

give it a go and let us know.

Re: FreeAgent Desktop 2TB is not scanned and indexed in FAT+

Finally figured this out.

FAT+ requires the free disk space is at least 8,000,000,000 bytes (~7.45GB) for my FreeAgent Desktop 2TB.

If I add just one file (or replace a file with the bigger file size) so the disk space is less than that, it won't do the indexing.

I'm not sure if there is disk space limitation on the drive so FAT+ will index but at least it working now.

Thank you for the reply.
