FreeAgent Theater + and its drive bay

I have a FreeAgent Theater Plus device that has been working good for the most part. It is connected to my home network via a wired connection. I have been streaming stuff to it from a localized networked PC and sometimes via a USB drive connected to one of its 2 available USB ports. All has been dandy :smileyvery-happy:

I also had a 750GB Seagate FreeAgent desktop USB external drive. Unfortunately it failed on me. It was under warranty so I contacted Seagate and got a RMA to return it. I also requested to have a FreeAgent Go portable UBS to replace it instead of a FreeAgent Desktop USB drive. My thinking was that i could then insert this new FreeAgent Go drive into my FreeAgent Theater via its docking area.

I recently got a 750GB FreeAgent USB drive replacement. While it does fit in the FreeAgent Theater + device & connects via its mini-USB connector, it doesn't seem to fit in there as flush as I thought. I can't put the FreeAgent Theater covers back on & it has to just sit there. Its basically too thick.

Is this thickness due to its capacity of 750GB and these models weren't meant to fit in the first place? I ask because I see how the same device with a 500GB drive can be purchased on the Seagate website so that is why I'm thinking I got one that is slightly too big. Or did I maybe request the wrong one for my FreeAgent Theater unit and should of gotten another model/design? Its not a huge deal & I can work with it, but just curious.

Also, once I do insert my FreeAgent Go portable drive into my networked FreeAgent Theater + unit, can I then access files on it from a network PC in another room. Or is it basically a 'read only' type of setup for this hardware?
