Hello, I'm considering purchasing a Dockstar to be the central network attached storage for several FreeAgent Theater+s in my home. So, the question is, can FAT+ access the files on hard drives attached to a Dockstar? Are there any special instructions for setting this up? Thanks in advance for your reply.

I had it and returned it. It is the same thing as a pogo plug and if you don't want to share your files outside your firewall then there are better solutions that won't cost that much more. It did work with fat+ but It had a lot of hiccups and I did not think it was worth it since I didn't need to share my files outside my firewall. A fat+ with modded firmware has the potential to be a usb nas with the modded firmware.

***Update: I ended up purchasing a Dockstar and after setting up the Pogoplug account, the FAT+ was able to see it across my (wired) LAN. No special set-up or configuration needed. Watching ISOs of DVDs is a breeze, no stuttering, upscales to 1080p, full digital audio output, perfect!

Hi.
Just tip - go to plugapps.com
Put plugbox os on the Dockstar and enjoy torrent, file sharing and much more.
All of this on the small box without trouble of underpowered fat+ .
This is my setup. More thing - I put my Dockstar, external hard drive and modem-router on the UPS
and the system running 24/7 without any problem more than 2 moths. Even without restarts. Rock stable !!!![]()

For a dockstar to visible on a network does their need to be a server or PC on or can it stand alone as a network device that the FAT+ can see if the PC / server is off?
Thanks

The Dockstar is a standalone device, it only needs a USB hard drive, power and a network connection.

Can I power down FAT+ or both FAT+ and Dockstar when I am not using it or them? DO I need to do anything when I power it or them up?
