i've bought a FAT+ in HK in Dec09'. I got 2 problems w/ my little FAT+.
At the beginning, there was an audio problem.
when it was running movie, the pictues were smooth BUT NO SOUND.
Afterwards, I found that i gotto turn on the FAT+ 1st, then the tv
the sound'b be back by using the practise.
but when i am using this way, the FAT+ cant save my setting
i have to set the language and the time EVERY SINGLE TIME WHEN I TURN ON THE FAT+
it's a bit stupid to remid myself everytime that u've gotto turn on the FAT+ 1st
SO, is there any way to solve this problem so i could turn on the FAT+anytime w/o losing the audio?
after i dealt w/ the audio problem, another problem came up
the pictures and the sound are running excellent this time
but when i wana switch the subtitle, i failed
when i pressed the MENU button during the movie, the menu bar qppeared, but i couldnt reach the subtitle and the audio channel menu
p.s. my tv model: SONY KDL 40W 500
i beg your little help....

I also have the sony KDL 40W5500 and the same problem with FAT+. I can still turn the subtitle on. The only thing i did maybe different is i install the firmware with the "cold installation".

it is sony kdl 40w5500. I can only have the HD resoluation and sound by turning on the FAT+ first. If i did the reverse way, the resolution will only be 480p and no sound. btw i just updated to the 1.45 firmware. Could you please look into this issue? thx so much....

Got a similar problem with a sony KDL 37W5800. I got no sound via HDMI. I tried two different FW versions, which have different behaviours:
V1.26: Could get sound working just by switching TV set off (that means just standby) and on again. This procedure needed to be done every time I switch off the FAT+.
V1.45 (current version): the off/on work around does not work for FW 1.45. Only possibility I've found was resetting FAT+ to factory defaults via menu.
Now I'm using component connection and sound via cinch. I don't have the sound issue any more.
But never the less Seagate or Sony seems to have an incorrect implementation of the HDMI standard and should fix this issue.

I would recommend doing the following
Re-flashing your firmware using the cold method described here
If problem still not solved , then its clearly an HDMI/HDCP problem , that has been widely reported throughout these forums and others as well ... See this post for problem explanation and suggested workaround

Yes, I did it also with the "cold method" before
I think I will stay with component connection and cinch audio; ... and wait for the next FW release. Maybe the issue will be solved then.
