Freeagent Theater+ Media Server Question

I just bought the Seagate Freeagent Theater+ system with the Wi-Fi adapter. I want to connect an external hard drive to my iMac with all my video files in one room and connect my Freeagent Theater+ system in another room, and stream the video from the hard drive.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Re: Freeagent Theater+ Media Server Question

I'm doing exactly that using Windows XP. The drive has to be shared on your computer. Don't what you Apple folks call that.

You should be able to connect that drive to the FreeAgent's USB port too.

Re: Freeagent Theater+ Media Server Question

How is the quality of the video you stream?

I have a N router with the seagate N wifi adapter with a good signal, and sometimes the video I stream stutters.

The imac is connected directly to my router with a cat5e cable, then the signal is transmitted thru the N router to the N wifi adapter,

which should be around 108 Mbps.

Is that not enough to stream the video?

No problems. Video quality is as good as the file was created with :smileywink:
