GoFlex TV won't connect to iMac running Lion.

Just bought the wifi adapter for the seagate goflex tv, and i got it connected to our local network and is working fine. However, I cant work out how to actually connect to my computer, I have tried everything that manual  says to including making selected folders shared on my hard drive. When i go into My_Shortcuts  on the goflex tv I add a shortcut and put in the IP address of my computer, I don't have a username or password set for the network so I don't put one in. When i click save and then try and go into the folder it asks for a New Username and Password, I leave them blank and then it says logon failed and goes to a blank screen. Help!

Had the same problem, but managed to solve it by using a media server. I tried a couple of options, but found the best was Twonky. It cost $20 or something, but probably worth it.

If you can, create an account with username and password - and ensure the shared folders have permissions to this account.  Seems anonymous logins are problemmatic on PC and may be for mac too.

FYI, the GoFlex and FreeAgent Theater+ (FAT+) are pretty much the same thing.

If you want a free media server, try XMBC out.  I have also used PlayOn in the past which worked.  However, using the media server option requires that the computer do all the video processing (not the GoFlex) which requires some horsepower there - which is why the shared folders is the way to go.
