Hi guys, I have read several reviews on the web that the FAT+ supports NFS. However I can't find a way to enable this.
Is there a way to do this?

Could you a little bit more specific? which FW version is your FAT+ on? and are you trying to access NFS shares on another Linux computer or NAS? or are you using official FW 2.20 or Mod FW 2.23 and want to set up NFS share on the FAT+?

The FAT+ is on the latest official firmware 2.23. I am trying to access the NFS shares from my QNAP TS-209 NAS.
Using SMB the video stutters a lot. With Twonkymediaserver everything runs smoothly except Twonky does not support external subtitles. I am very new to networking and streaming stuff but I read that that NFS performs much than SMB and does support external sub.
Did I miss anything in getting the NFS to work on the FAT+?

I don't think NFS works with the FAT+ out of the box. People who reported that must have been tweaking to make it work somehow.
Also, depending on the connection (wire or wireless), samba should work fine for SD videos with wireless and HD videos with wire. It sounds like you're using media server for streaming, that's where the problem is. Try playing the video or music directly by using Browse to go to the network folder and play the files. There is really no need to use NFS to gain performance.

Thanks for confirming that NFS doesn't work out of the box. A couple of web reviews listed NFS as a feature of the FAT+ nonetheless.
As in my earlier post, Samba does not work for me. It's a shame that Twonky Media Server does not support external subtitles. Would be perfect for me if it did!
Guess my only option now is to remux all my files with external subs. ![]()

Samba does work for me, never had any problem whether subs are internal or external.

NFS and Samba are not the same. NFS is not enabled. You'll have much better luck with a Samba server off of your Linux system.
