NAS streaming

Hi All,

I have connected Seagate FAT+ to HP Mediavault through Netgear DGND 3700 router recently. I assumed that streaming from HP Mediavault wouldn't be an issue, so I was excited to watch my collection. However to my surprise I am noticing a message "MEDIA IS REMOVED STOP PLAY BACK" on middle of the tv screen whenever I am playing a movie. I am not sure why it's popping up, but I would request if anybody of you have seen this message before and had any solution to rectify this issue would be a great help.

Thanks,

ER

Re: NAS streaming

A few questions.

1.  Which firmware are you using.  It would never hurt to try a cold method reinstall of your current firmware (see my signature)

2.  Are you connecting via Media Server or Network?  I recommend using the Network option.

Re: NAS streaming

Firstly thanks for reply. I am currently using version 2.20. I have tried connecting to media vault using network, but I am not seeing media vault on the network option. It is visible only in media server option. Should I try upgrading to 2.23.

Thank you.

Re: NAS streaming

No need to upgrade to 2.20.

First, do you have shared folders set up on the NAS?  Sounds like you don't.  Using the NAS to serve up media files (via Media Server) is not necessary and has been problemmatic not just on this device but others.  Set up a shared folder on the NAS, confirm you can connect to it from a PC, and then head to the FAT+ Network and set up a shortcut to the share from there.

Other recommendations (not related to your specific problem but other NAS issues)

1.  Turn off auto-update on the FAT+.  Only update the firmware if you are having problems.

2.  Assign a static IP address to the NAS.

This thread verifies these other issues and ways to solve them.

Give the above a try and let me know how it works out.

Re: NAS streaming

Thank you for the reply. I assigned a static ip to FAT+ and created a shortcut on Network to access my mediavault. Now it seems to be working I hope.

Thanks for suggestions.
