Hi, I just bought a new FAT+ and also new to this forum. I found that it can't play back any video file (ts, mkv, m2ts, etc) of 1080 from my hard drives, either 1080p or 1080i. When I played back such files, the picture shows up on screen but was either split, full of masaic, or frozen up.
I updated the firmware to ver 2.20, the first time I hooked up the FAT+ via the internet.
I emailed CS about the issue and was advised to update firmware by cold boot. I did so but the issue remained. I just talked to tech support on the phone and he told me it must be the problem of my video files, not that of the player. I'm not an expert of video hardware or software, but I have doubt about what he said.
I have two other media players and never have any problem playing the same filess, on the same TV, with the same cable and hard drive. I tried with all video set up options (480, 720, 1080, and hdmi auto) and still have the same problem.
Has anyone had the same issue? Is there a solution? Thank you in advance!.

Im no expert either, Until someone replies with a better idea, have a look at this thread.
The OP didn't reply with a conclusion though.

Are you playing the files from an hard drive directly connected to the FAT+ or from a network share?

It plays Blu-ray ISOs directly from a "WD 1TB essentials" and from my PC's hard drive via a wired network
with no problem, just need to keep other network activity to a minimum.

I play the files directly from a hard drive connected to FAT+ by USB cable.

Have you tried different connections to the TV like component? Just to see what happens.

Yes I did try all connections available to the player.

All of what you have said indicates to me that the player has a fault.
Support were quick to conclude that my player was faulty although I know mine does not have an individual fault.
It would be nice for others to comment also.
EDIT: Only one other thing I can think to try is another hard drive incase there is an incompatibility.
I don't know if this is even possible to happen.

I put a short m2ts file onto a USB stick. The FAT+ played it fine.

Thank you for the advice. Looks like you are right. It seems the issue is hard drive related. I tried with four different drives (all NTFS), 2 external, and 2 internal connected thru a hard drive dock. The result is as follows:
1. External (Fantom 1TB) can't play ANY 1080 video file properly
2. Internal (Samsung 1 TB) can't play ANY 1080 video file properly
3. External (Buffalo 320GB) can play ALL 1080 video files without any problem4. Internal (Seagate 1 TB) can play ALL 1080 video files without any problem
I ran a disk doctor software to check the two non-working hard drives and didn't find any problem. I still don't understand this.Does this mean FAT+ does have a compatibility issue with certain hard drives? These drives work perfectly with my other two media players. Any idea?
