No composite display on CRT TVs

I just received a FAT+ and I tried plugging it into an older TV with composite input. There was just a black screen. I then tried on a newer TV again with composite input and same thing. Is there a known issue with composite output? The player does display via component on an HDTV that I have

Re: No composite display on CRT TVs

The same problem today with a new FAT+. You have to first connect it to the TV. Power up the TV and after that connect the powercable to FAT+ and it will setup.

I have now problems with my Swedish subtitles. They are invisible :-(

Maybe an FW-upgrade will help?

I have 2 FAT+'s, both connected to CRT TV's. Both are working fine. Do check cables and connections.

Re: No composite display on CRT TVs

Do you have to change any video settings or is it plug and play on CRT tvs.  The device worked great on my HDMI TV I just moved it from.  I'm connecting it to the front panel of a Sony TV.  I'll try another TV just to see if it is the TV that is causing the problem.

Re: No composite display on CRT TVs

I tried this today with a new FAT+ and my 32" Panasonic crt. What I got was a black and white picture. Nothing I did could get me a color picture. Anyone know the cure for this ?

[ Edited ]

I have my FAT+ hooked to the front composite inputs on my Sony CRT TV and it works great!

HOWEVER, you have to be sure the plug on the cable is pushed completely into the jack.  There were a couple of times when I first got it that it FELT like it went all the way in abut it DID NOT or did not make a good connection.  One of those times, I got a b&w picture and the other I got a black screen with some colored ziggy lines.  In both cases removing and reinserting the plug with a bit of twisting to be sure it was seated well solved the problems.

On a related matter . . .  I purchased short composite cables with the mini-jack plug that ended in female RCA comnnector off e-bay so I could use composite extension cables with my unit.  I could never get the gender changer cable to transmit video.  All I got was a LOUD buzzing sound.  I thought they were defective and had the seller send replacements.  That one did not work either.  I have never had a problm with the original cables and I have two FAT+ units.

Of course, that doesn't mean you couldn't have a bad cable from the factory . . .

Doug
