If you can ping the box then it's great. Try telnet to the box (Windows putty has telnet, too) The user name is root, no password necessary. After that type the command
mount
This will list all the disks/volumes that were detected by the FAT+.
then attach your USB drive to the front port, check the mounting again with "mount" command to see if the output changed, and if there is any thing like (sdxx is the drive letter):
/tmp/usbmounts/sda1
Then you'll know the USB drive was recognized by the FAT+ .
Paste the output from both here, if you're not sure.

Re: Theatre+ usb socket failure

Your router may have given the FAT+ a new IP address.  Verify this with your router - I can't remember if the FAT+ menu will tell you its current IP or not.

-------
- Please search the forums first and remember, these are COMMUNITY forums so don't expect Seagate techs to trot out some new firmware update because you don't like something. To be honest, they don't even visit these forums. Be nice, verbose, and mindful.
- There are sticky threads that can also answer many of your questions
- Reinstall firmware with the COLD METHOD

Re: Theatre+ usb socket failure

Yes, the FAT+ shows the current IP on the menu. Good point, prairiedog! I'm sure after the Cold flash, the FAT+ will set the IP to dynamic IP, too.
