Re: WiFi Adapter - Does it have to be Seagate?????

I have read all three pages three times now, and finally understand!  Some drivers are hard installed on the FAT+ and some are not.

Add the Linksys WUSB54GC to the list of those that won't work!

Hi Rich 113,

Not sure if you were serious, but we cannot install drivers on the FAT+;  You only have the option to choose the wifi dongles that can work with the FAT+

Zonet ZEW2546 Also Works for N Wireless

In addition to working for the G wireless, the Zonet ZEW2546 also works for 2.4GHz N Wireless dual channel to achieve 300 Mbps.

For the G wirless, I connected to a Linksys WRT54GL router running DD-WRT firmware.  For the N wirless, I connected to a Linksys WRT610N router running DD-WRT firmware.

For the german Users, this stick does quiet well at the Fat+: buy LogiLink Wireless LAN WL0080

With Firmware 1.26 it did not work, because the fat+ could not get any ip address from the Accesspoint.

With Firmware 1.27 it does fine. The chip is stated by LogiLink to be a Realtek RTL8192SU but in fact it is a RTL8191SU.

Re: WiFi Adapter - Does it have to be Seagate?????

Here's something for Mac Users.

An old Apple AirPort Express I had lying around did the trick for me. Granted it probably costs more than a lot of people here want to pay, but if you already have one….

I'm not terribly net savvy, and I guess technically it's more of an Ethernet Bridge than a WiFi connection, still after unsuccessfully auditioning so many USB WiFi Adapters, I was just happy to find something that worked.  I set up the Airport Express as part of a WDS network in Airport Utility, then just connected it to the LAN port of the FAT+.

Doesn't work with NETGEAR WN111 (Wireless-N 300) either. With FW 1.26 you get "no SSID" message, while with the latest FW you get "no router" message.

Re: WiFi Adapter - Does it have to be Seagate?????

I tried the USB Wireless Lan 802.11N1 1T2R Adapter from monoprice.com.  Price was $13.53 plus a couple of bucks shipping.

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10501&cs_id=1050105&p_id=6147&seq=1&for...

It works just fine with my Qwest PK5000 (G) Wireless Modem/Router and FAT+ for video like revision3 and some of the newsfeed sites. Not good at all for pixel perfect and some other blogs, which are pixellated and broken up.   I also have the high-dollar Seagate adapter, which seems to have slightly greater range.  Neither one works great over a 30 foot or so distance and through a wall or two.  Final advice: get the cheaper one from Monoprice and get as close as possible to your router.

Note:  The monoprice adapter also works with the Patriot Box Office, in case, like me, you happen to have both units.
