Confirmed that the monoprice rebadged Realtek RTL8191SU works fine with the FAT+.
For SD video files transcoded to .mkv, smooth video, smooth audio, no problems. For full size SD .iso files, stuttering of audio, sometimes stuttering of video, the FAT+ is one floor below the router. Using the wifi adapter 2 floors below the router, even the SD .mkv files will stutter.
Switching to the Trendnet Wireless gaming adapter (TEW 647GA), the SD .mkv files will now play fine 2 floors below, but full size SD .iso files still stutter one floor below. So I'm guessing that the bridge gives slightly better transfer speeds compared to the wifi adapter (not tech savvy enough to know how to measure actual speeds).

Only certain Realtek chip wifi adapters would work. Do you know which chipset this Belkin adapter uses?
If SSID was not found using the D-link, perhaps it was set as hidden in the router? if it is, set it to visible (log in the router to change it), try connect again. Once it is, reset SSID to hidden in the router again if desired.

It looks like the connection was OK. Otherwise, you would not see the adapter at 192.168.2.5. It happened to me a couple times. One day it was connected OK, the next day was not. I just turned off the FAT+, pull the Wifi dongle out, turned the FAT+ back on, off again, plug in the Wifi adapter and turned the FAT+ back on, and everything was normal again.

I don't recal any user has reported that RT2870 works. There are many other Realtek chip adapter that works, though. Here is the thread that covered most of the types of adapters:
http://forums.seagate.com/t5/FreeAgent-Theater/Wi-
fzabkar looked inside the FW and only saw RTL8187L, RTL8150L, RTL8191SU, and RTL8192SU.

Seagate now reccomends the use of:
Airlink101
model# AWLL6077V2
Hope that helps everyone.

I bought this adapter and it arrived today. I connected it and the goflex tv recognized the adapter. It saw my network and the security type. After putting in my password all I get is "testing connection" after which it goes back to the first step. This is super frustrating, especially since I called Seagate and they say they can't do anything because they don't support 3rd party adapters. Then I'm told that they don't even make their own adapter. what!
