I just received my FAT+ and have been trying to set it up. I have a share I'm trying to access with full control granted to everone on the NTFS permissions and Anon given read on the share permissions.
Originally I couldn't even see the share but after I made all of the registry changes outlined in the guide I can see the share but receive the logon failed error when opening it. I have firmware 2.2.
Any idea's?

You should give the share Full access to everyone (even anonymous users). If need to protect or limit share access, then create a different share and grant full access only to a specific user.

Is this a Public folder or a regular folder that you are trying to share?
If it's a regular shared folder, do this, right click on that folder, select Properties, then select the Sharing tab. Click on Advanced Sharing, then put a check in the box next to "Share this folder", then click on Permissions & make sure that under "Group or User names" it says "Everyone" & under "Permissions for Everyone" there is a check mark at least beside "Read".
*Edited to remove double content. Sorry about that happening.

This is a share i'm trying to access not a public folder, I said the permissions backwards.... the share permissions everyone has full control and the NTFS permissions Anonymous logon has read & Execute, list folder contents, and read. I have no problem accessing this share from other computers or Boxee software.

Ok, if you have all your shares & permissions set correctly, then there could be other problems.
You can temporarily disable your firewall & antivirus program, then see if you can access your shares. You can also try resting your modem.

You said also that you had the 2.20 FW, if you updated to the FW using the "online" updater, this could have caused a problem. You can try re-flashing the FW using the COLD METHOD.

And sorry for the "doubling" on the posts. Not really sure what's going on with that. Every time I post something it seems to double everything I've type & if I try to edited it then it triples it. I'm not sure if it's because I'm using a beta version of Firefox or if it's something to do with this site.

We are looking into it. Thanks. ![]()

I had the same issue and did some registry changes to fix. It seems to be caused by windows live mesh. See this thread....
http://forums.seagate.com/t5/GoFlexTV/Logon-Fail-H
and the solution from here
Navigate to the following location in the registry editor.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\
1. On the right side Double Click on everyoneincludesanonymous and in the window that pops up, change the value data from a 0 value to a 1
2. Double Click on NoLmHash and in the window that pops up, change the Value Data from a 1 value to a 0
3. Now navigate to the following location in the registry editor
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters
Double Click on restrictnullsessaccess and change the 1 value to a 0
Reboot

The sticky GUIDE post already described this (the title of this post is "Followed the guide")
Note that there are 2 parts in the GUIDE.
The first part is setting up:
First go to the Control Panel, then select Network & Sharing Center, then on the left pane select "Change advanced sharing settings".
Then select in the settings:
Turn on network discovery
Turn on file & printer sharing
Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read & write files in the Public folders
on Media Streaming (I'll come back to that)
Enable file sharing for devices that use 40 -or 56-bit encryption
Turn off password protected sharing
Now make sure you have the same setting for both Home or Work & Public profiles
For the Media Streaming, select "Chose media streaming options...", the on the "Show devices on:" dropdown box select "All networks". You should then see something that says "Unknown Device", make sure that it has "Allow" beside it.
The second part is the registry change for restrictnullaccess as above. Ususally, the first part is enough to share the folder. The registry change is needed only when other Windows program has changed the settings without you knowing that.
