whenever i play a video file (avi or mkv) w/ srt subs, large (wide) vertical (see through) bands/bars appear on the screen. i thought it might be my hdmi cable but no difference w/ another cable. i even tried it w/ component cables, same strange result. same thing on hdmi auto/hdmi 1080/hdmi 720
the banding does not appear on idx/sub subtitles. the banding disappears in fast forward/reverse, but then reappears when resuming play.
anyone else notice these artifacts? could this be a defective unit? got it from newegg last week and it would cost $8.50 to return it for replacement if there is no fix. or else, i would have to convert all srt subs to idx/sub subtitles. i tried it and it worked but the color of the subs were wacked. (a minor annoyance)
the FAT+ is connected via hdmi to a 52" sony lcd.
using optical out raw to receiver, getting DD5.1 and DTS fine. (couldn't get dts via hdmi - another minor annoyance)
FAT+ hardwired to wireless bridge. (no problems streaming non HD vids)
updated fw from 1.55 to latest 2.20, made no difference w/ banding.
videos w/o srt subs play fine (mkv, divx/xvid, hdxvid, dvd iso)
the only format it wouldn't handle was an ogm video file.
HD vids stored on 3.5" 250gb HDD via usb into FAT+.

Have you updated the FAT+'s firmware? Did you use the FAT+'s online update to update the firmware? What firmware version do you have installed?

yes, i've tried resizing and moving the subs and it makes no difference.
to further describe these bands: there are three wide bands, left, center and right. each wide band consists of thinner vertical lines. the bands are translucent, so you can see through them. they are more noticeable during a scene w/ a flat white background as the bands are slightly darker.
i noticed last night that they appear on some mkvs that have embedded subs (not hard coded) too.
i've had to extract the subs from the mkv as an srt, then convert the srt to idx/sub. this method worked on a german film but did not work on three chinese films.
anyone else notice these lines?

Hey there. I also noticed this same vertical banding problem down the screen with my FAT+.
It is only occasionally that this happens... is a translucent slightly greyish 2-3inch banding on my 32inch TV.
Only one line so far. Don't know why it happens either..??
Any ideas ? I'm running latest firmware.
