can your FAT HD stream full bitrate bluray?

My FAT HD always stutters on high bitrate bluray scenes. My network is gigabit and my firmware is 2.20. My bluray source is ripped to my server (BDMV folder) and accessed via SMB from my FAT. My boxee box plays these fine. Im ready to replace my FAT but thought I'd check here first...
