iphone remote app?

Has anyone been using this? I tried it out for the first time last night and it seems to work great, I dont understand how to get the list of files to show up on my iphone and was wondering if anyone has got that to work. I am still on 2.20 and am not sure if that has something to do with it.

"With the TV Remote app, people can now see a display of all the files stored on the external hard drives connected to GoFlex TV or FreeAgent Theater+ HD media players, which provides a convenient alternative way to view the files stored on the drive."

Re: iphone remote app?

sorry, haven't been able to test it out because seagate likes to support US with every feature and nothing for Australia. The iphone remote app is only in the itunes US store. D:

Even something as simple a weather does not include Australia!! Yet they sell the device there.

Re: iphone remote app?

The iPhone app released with firmware 2.20 IS available in Australian itunes store. Probably an accident as the rest of the package does totally deny the existence of Australia. Search itunes store for NetRemote - no mention of Seagate in that version. Works for the basics, replacing the hardware remote, though as the OP mentioned, the search and list of files it tempts you with don't work.

Adding Australia to the weather can be done IF you can add or edit files via telnet, ftp or samba - all options which are back on the drawing board it seems with firmware 2.23.

Re: iphone remote app?

Oh, I see. I realised Netremote was an option previously, however due to the lack of any mention of "Seagate" and the fact that Seagate is promoting its "Seagate branded app" I thought that Netremote was from a 3rd party. Googling does show the "Seagate branded app" however it is only in the US itunes store!

I understand it is in Seagate's interests to appeal to more customers by adding features such as Pandora which is welcome, however take note that features such as Pandora, Netflix, Blockbuster, etc only work in US and customers outside there are basically stuck with a **bleep**ty UI basic media player. I believe they should make it more appealing to customers outside by fixing simple problems with the firmware the competition does not have and adding some crucial features which work regardless of region.

Have a look at this link: http://forums.seagate.com/t5/GoFlexTV/Wishlist-of-features-for-next-firmware-update/m-p/67552/highli...

Re: iphone remote app?

It only works on hard drive that are attached via the USB port, NOT the hard drive that are docked(Freeagent Go). I can send pictures from my Iphone but I can't send video.

Re: iphone remote app?

Loaded in on my Ipad last night.  Search for netremote in the app store.

Works pretty good, even lets you push pictures from your ipad to the media player.  Now if they would just open up the media player to allow us to add files to it across the network it would be a much better experience.

One cool feature of the APP is the search function, you can click on a movie on the ipad and it will start playing on the tv instantly.

Re: iphone remote app?

Unfortunately there is no version of the remote app in the german itunes store. And there is no android version. so maybe one of  the more technical people could dump the tcp traffic from the remote<->fat+ and the associated button press, so we could come up with at least an android version.

Volunteers?
