making your own install.img / hello world

Has anyone been able to make their own software to boot on the FAT+/Gtv ?

if someone could compile something into a install.img and then boot it up, perhaps you could then access the internal file system directly?

 

or atleast make a nice little fileserver so we can copy files directly over the network to the usb harddrives.
