Re: netflix server error

Unit: 9UH2A0-522

Box: 9UG2A0-570

I also cannot connect to Netflix.

Also to the poster above, if you call Newegg they will email you a return label.  All you have to do is slap it on a box and call UPS for pickup.  No cost to you.

Re: netflix server error

I received mine today, which is the 3rd FAT+.  Unfortunately, I have the same problem as others in getting an activation code.

I activate my first one on 8/26/10.  I activated my second one 11/9/10.  Both worked the first trial.  However, each time I tried to connect to Netflix with these first two units, I mostly will have a connection problem.  I learned to connect to the Youtube just for a few seconds, then come back to the home menu and then I would be able to connect to Netflix.

I do not know what the problem is with this third unit.  Youtube and everything else worked.  I certainly hope it is Netflix problem.  Even though the units are not perfect, but they serve my purpose very nicely with very good value.  Some other brands cost more and cannot connect to the home network.

I hope somebody can tell us what the problem is.  I am willing to wait for Netflix to fix the problem, if it is Netflix problem..

Re: netflix server error

I also have the the FAT+ purchased 11-5-10 from Newegg, same conflicting part #s and server error. I am using a Zonet ZEW2546 adapter to connect and all net apps good except Netflix. I think we can figure this thing out in a short time if we continue working together a bit. i believe the part# discrepancy is key.

I will start clean w/ ethernet  and different FWs and get back to you.

Newegg has provided the label to ship on a refund for me in the past. They are great about working with you in cases like these.

Re: netflix server error

I checked the box and the unit that worked on 11/9/10 and the P/N are

Unit: 9UH2A0-522

Box: 9UG2A0-570

Same as the ones that did not work.

I suspect that the Canandian and US units are mixed up in the factory, but I cannot verify that by P/N.

Re: netflix server error

My Non-Netflix connecting FAT+ from Newegg is P/N: 9UH2A0-522. If you deactivate Netflix account from the FAT+'s setup screen is it suppose to show some kind of confirmation like DiVX? My screen just blink and nothing changes.

Re: netflix server error

I am having the exact same problem, namely: everything functions except the NetFlix activation. Interestingly, though, I purchased two units withn a couple of weeks from New Egg and one has this problem and the other doesn't. The first one that I received (on about 11/2/10) couldn't connect to NetFlix. I spent a fair amount of time with support for Seagate, NetFlix, and my ISP. I connected the FAT+ directly to my cable modem. No joy.

I received my second unit from New Egg (ordered on 11/5/10 -- like many others here) and it connected immediately -- through my router, etc. Therefore, it seems obvious that the problem is not with my router or ISP. Curiously, the 1st FAT+ was version 2.20 and did not work. The 2nd was 1.55 and did. So, Seagate support had me re-image the 1st one to 1.55 but it still did not work. They gave me RMA instructions, but this means that I am shipping it back to Seagate AT MY EXPENSE.

seeing all of the postings here leads me to believe that charging me/us for shipping is grounds for class action.

This will be the second time that I have had to return a Seagate device for repairs -- the first was with a FreeAgent Theater (not a Plus model), ALSO AT MY EXPENSE. I am not happy.

(9:43:51 am) Jeffery: You will need to flash it back to the 1.55 firmware using this knowledge base article http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=211875&NewLang=en&Hilite=firmware and here is the link for the firmware http://support.seagate.com/support/certificate.html and here is the certificate code 7ZXH$7KFSAN7

I am returning to Newegg for a replacemnt unit that I hope will work. A note to those who want to return/RMA to newegg. If you RMA via the web, you will have to pay return shipping - in my case $13.00. If you  call customer support at (800) 390-1119 they will email you a shipping label and pay for the return shipping.

I figure that if the replacement unit does not connect to Netflix, I can either return for a refund or keep it for what it can do. I don't think Seagate has a clue as to what to do and doesn't really care.

Re: netflix server error

I too just got mine from NewEgg. I made the mistake of upgrading from 1.55 to 2.20 right away before trying NetFlix.

I have tried wired and wireless  both direct to the modem and also  through a router and then again after  loading 1.55.

Nothing works as far as getting on NetFlix. Everthing elswe works fine as far as getting on the internet.

I think I will just wait and see if a fix comes out

Re: netflix server error

Don't wait to long - you have 30 days from order to return to Newegg. As I said in my earlier post, the Seagate rep said to return it. I do not have a lot of confidence in seagate solving the problem. Since this is a Seagate forum, one would have expected a Seagate rep to have posted a response to this issue.

Re: netflix server error

Except for 1 or 2 folks who posted something along the lines of,"Nana Nana Boo-Boo! I got mine and it works!", most folks here have a busted machine. Many, many  more probably don't realize they have a problem yet. Seagate isn't helping whatsoever in this forum. For them to have put out a bunch of broken merchandise, you'd expect them to at least make an appearance. Goes to show how much they care...

Is there anyone who had a busted machine that got it fixed? If so, how?

For those that are returning to NewEgg, is NewEgg planning on sending out a working replacement? Or do we lose out on this deal?
