I recently purchased a second FreeAgent Theater Plus (FAT+) for my bedroom TV after having such great success with the one I bought in early 2010, and still successfully use, for my living room TV. However, it was defective and I had to return it to Best Buy a few days after I purchased it, as it would not hold its IP address.
The replacement unit I received setup easily and has had no networking issues except for one very important function. I go to Netflix, and my newest FAT+ cannot connect. I go to the Netflix registration screen with the four steps, and I get 3 green lights and it fails every time on the last step (connect to Netflix server).

After numerous firmware re-loads, down to 1.55, back to 2.20, up to 2.23, still no success in activating Netflix on my newer, second FAT+. Everything else works great on it, dvd iso and blu-ray iso streaming, MediaFly, YouTube, etc. It's like the code to say, "hey, I'm a FAT+ here, and I want to get activated" is corrupt.
Customer support has no answers, other than pack it up and return it. So, I will be doing that tomorrow, unless anyone else here has a suggestion.

You are trying to activate over a wired connection? If not, try it, it's been mentioned before on the board as a solution to this. That's the only thing I can think of.

Definitely a wired network here.
I have one FAT+ that does everything great. My second unit does everything except connect to Netflix for activation. I have swapped rooms with each, and the symptoms are the same, so my network is fine. The fourth step on the Netflix activation screen never turns green on the second unit.

Well here it is over 2 yrs later, and I am having the same trouble you all are having. I get the first 3 green lights, then the Netflix returned a server error on the last one.
Been going back and forth from seagate to netflix, to my isp, and no one knows why this is hapening, or how to fix it. I guess that is why seagate dropped this product all together, and disco'd the line.
Was this problem ever solved?

We were having the same problem starting two Mondays ago. Seagate said defective, out of warranty hardware. Netflix said alternately that it's Seagate fault and that our internet connection is suddenly too slow. Around and around on the phone. Gave up. Today (Monday) it is working again with no changes to any configuration on our side.
