Hello.
I followed to the dot the instructions on how to install the MacInstaller.dmg so I can use my external drive for both Mac & Windows but to no avail. I am seeing the drive in Mac but only on Read Only.
What else should I do? It is working well on windows as Read/Write.
Please Help.
Thanks
Binu

I'd like to start with the basics on this. Did you follow the steps listed in this knowledge base article to set up the drive for both Mac and PC?

Let me know and we'll take it from there.

I'm having a similar problem. I bought my drive, plugged it into my Mac (running Lion), and backed up some files. There was no software to run, no instructions, so I just figured it was working out of the box like it should.
Now, suddenly, it's gone readonly, and I have no idea how to reset it. Disk Utility can't even verify it. What do I do?

I am having the same problem, I have tried the paragon fix and everything. My drive is read only still.
I am running Snow Leopard - Mac OS X 10.8

I had the same issue. Found the answer on another thread...
1. Go to the drivers page: http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/
2. Download "NTFS Driver for Mac OS"
3. Install
Done. Worked for me. Hope it works for you.
I got my Seagate at Staples on sale, for backing up some stuff. NOT user-friendly. I'll be going back to LaCie for my next one.

I am unsure how that fix worked for you, I uninstalled old software and installed the "NTFS Driver for Mac OS X". I tried this twice, checked over all possible settings. It is still read only!!!
So frusturating!!!

Is there another step? Just installing the software didn't help me, or another user who posted below. It's still read-only.
Definitely never buying a Seagate again. Support is non-existent.

Hey guys! So I found the problem, with my drive atleast. The adapter for the drive was actually broken, worked fine for read-write on my PC and read on my MAC, heres how I found out it was broken.
After a while with live chat support this is what we figured out.
Go to the system profiler, by clicking "About this Mac" from the Apple button
- click "More info..."
- click "system report"
- find the "USB" entry and look for the "FreeAgent Go flex" entry
This is where we found out it was broken.
- Look to see what the manufacturer is listed as... mine was listed as a bunch of garbled symbols.
- This means that the adapter is broken, you can get it replaced my calling support 1-800-732-4283, and you won't have to loose any data on your drive.
I hope this will help anybody who might be having the same problem. This problem is very frusturating, however support was very kind and helpful.
