I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a Dell desktop.
My computer will not recognize the 3TB FA GoFlex Desk drive.
I've tried uninstalling and rebooting the computer and it fails upon trying to install drives.
Windows cannot locate and firmware or downloads for this drive.
I only have USB 2.0 drive support, but the box said it was backwards compatible.
Thanks in advance.

Please try our external drive troubleshooter - http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/troublesh
If the troubleshooter doesn't resolve your problem, could you please post the report from Microsoft's UVCView utility?
Also, please try this:

Ahh I have the same horrid problem. Dell Laptop, Windows 7 64 Bit, - I've already sent one of thee harddrives back when it first arrived because it kept having power failures...now I go to plug it in and it cannot be recognized...no help from seagate with drivers. Pretty disillusioned with deagate alltogether. I have about 14 external hardrives and this is the first time I've ever had this much trouble with one other than them
eventually dieing off.
So per the moderator's request here's the info from the downloaded USB Device Viewer attavched - it won't let me paste it into the forum.

I'm having the same problem. New 3TB GoFlex works fine with my Dell desktop (Win XP) and my work Dell laptop (Win7, 32-bit), but is not recognized by my HP Win7 64-bit laptop. I've tried almost everything from the web and the forums (other than older Vista stuff). I have several cases open with Seagate, and spend several hours on the phone with HP: we concluded it must be Windows 64-bit somehow. (The HP laptop works just fine a standard USB jump drive). Does anyone have any more recent experience with this? I've uninstalled and reinstalled every USB device driver on the computer and still get "USB device not recognized".
