I own a Seagate Freeagent GoFlex 500Gb and it has always worked out fine. One day it just stopped working. It doesn't get recognized and there is a beeping sound coming from the disc. It doesn't show up in Device Manager, Sea Tools can't find it (so no diagnostics can be done), I've tried using a different power cable (and a Y one), different USB (tried USB 3.0 too), different laptop, nothing has worked.
It is still covered by the warranty. If I return it, will I get my files back or just a new external disc?

I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried many different ways to get it to work but none of my attempts have been successful so far. My drive is under warranty as well but I'd rather not go through all of the hassle of sending it out and waiting all of this time, especially if there's nothing wrong with it and that there's an easy fix.
Can somebody please help us?

Please try this:

If you get to the end of this troubleshooter and the drive is still not detected, I do recommend you get it replaced.

I've done that, more than one times and I am willing to send the disc back. What I want to know is whether I will get the files I have in the disc back or not.

Warranty replacement doesn't cover the files. I'd recommend removing the interface adapter, then directly connecting the drive to your computer's internal SATA connector to see if the drive is accessible at that point.
