640GB Go Flex

[ Edited ]

I have a Free Agent Go Flex external portable hard drive I bought back in November 2011 and up until a week ago it was working excellent. Then sometime last week I noticed if I was listening to music from it the music would start to skip or pause now and then. It got worse after a day or so. I tried to watch a movie file from the drive and it paused and then failed all together. I notice the blue lights on the front sort of fade from being fully on to faintly lit. It is almost impossible to transfer files from the drive. They have to be very small and even then it doesn't work if you try to move more than one at a time. I tried the Seatools thing and all of the tests failed almost immediately. Can anyone offer me any help on what I can do to fix this or if it is even fixable? I hope I can do something about it as I have had this drive for a short time.

Re: 640GB Go Flex

If it fails SeaTools, replace the drive.

Backup any files you have on there that you may need and contact warranty for replacement.

To all users: If your data is stored ONLY on an external hard drive, then it is NOT a backup. A BACKUP is having the data stored in TWO or MORE locations. If it is only in ONE location, you don't have a backup at all. If the data is important to you, then have it stored in multiple locations to prevent data loss.
