I would like to use Memeo Instant Backup without running Dashboard.  But I am getting the countdown, and there is no serial number registered. 

Can you help?

How do stop the incessant popups?  I'll back up when I choose to, not when this software tells me to.

I've tried all the "fixes".  My 30 day trial error has expired and is no longer backing up my files.  It appears at this point I have two options: toss the $100 backup drive that worked for 30 days and buy something that works or pay the $30 that the software is trying to extort from me. My question is, if I pay the $30 ransom will the software now work and it this a one time fee or a yearly one?

I suppose there might be a third option.  If I uninstall the drive and trash the buggy software can I use the Win7 backup utility with this drive?

With all respect.... all the steps have been taken by the folks here and the problem continues!  Part of the issue may be (with me anyway)  because Dashboard doens't find my Desk 2tb plugged into my Linksys E-4200.  Plus I can find no product key to register the software.

Bottom line is the software is faulty and no support is being offered exept "read the first post".

Perhaps Seagate should take some decisive actions.

Well, all I can say is what I've already said - it would be best to Contact Support IF all the steps described here have already been tried.

Hey mine still says thirty days after I do that. On top of that it always says im disconnected when the device is connected to my computer. its strange because I can't seem to get any information on the drive. someone please give me a clue.

mine is windows xp not vista, is this why it doesnt see my external harddrive is plugged in and keeps saying plug it in.

I am having similar issues as to all these posts and YES I have follow your help of see post #1.  Dashboard does not see  the drive it says" detecting device, please wait a few moments and never registers the drive.   I click on Memeo and get the countdown message to purchase the software.  I have follow all the instructions and still am being asked to upgrade and now have the countdown to 29 days.  I have 8 days to return this to Office Max, which at this point I think I am planning on doing.  I have been told externals are basic and easy to use, no so much so far with this seagate product.
