I just got a Seagate Freeagent GoFlex 500 GB HD for Christmas, however my computer won't recognize it. The light comes on, but that's it. I am running windows 7 on an Acer Laptop. I have tried the troubleshooter three times, and nothing. I would love some advice from real people XD

I have a 1 tb goflex that I loaded up with all my media for two big projects. I have had it for only one month, and it failed today. I'm trying to rescue the data, but I'm just shocked and stumped that a drive I babied for a month had so little staying power. Anyone else have this experience?

I have the same HD and am running it on a Apple that is boot-camped and the same thing happened to me. I was watching video on it and it was working fine, I stopped the video and my comp went into sleep mode. When I turned it back on the drive was working then it just disappeared of my desktop. Now it won't recognize when I plug it in even with the lights on on the HD. Only had this for a few months, can't even run a diagnostic on the drive, so now its time to try and save the data. Any suggestions on the best way to do that or a way to get the drive working again?

Please try our external drive troubleshooter - http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/troublesh
If the troubleshooter doesn't resolve your problem, could you please post the report from Microsoft's UVCView utility?
