Drive not seen when Paragon NTFS is installed

Model: STAP1500601

Serial: NA0C......

Mac OS X 10.7.4 pretty much brand new MacBook Pro

Initial install worked.  Copied a bunch of files to the drive.  The a few days later drive was not recognized.  Searched this forum and anywhere else I could think of.  Finally was able to download an install "Paragon NTFS Install.dmg" from the Seagate site.  Ran that without sucess.  Then I ran it to Un-Install and the drive was back visible in Finder but couldn't write to it.  Files from the original day when it worked were there.  Once I could see the drive in Finder I reinstalled from the .dmg that is on it and after the reboot the drive just is not recognized.  Lights do come on but then go out after about 5 min.

I did recently update from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 but I can't remember if that was done inbetween when it worked and when it didn't but figured I would mention it.

Bottom line is that if I install the NTFS software, after reboot the drive is not visible.  Uninstall it and it's back but can't write files to it.

Re: Drive not seen when Paragon NTFS is installed

When I run disk utilities I can see the drive.  There are two listings one for the drive "1.5 TB Seagate FreeAgent" then a sub folder (that's what it looks like) under it called "FreeAgent GoFlex Drive".  The first one appears to be mounted but when I try to mount the second one I get a message that it can't be mounted.  I run the verify and all seem well.  Still can't mount it.  Tried to insert a screen shot but also attached a zip file with the screen shot.Screen shot

Re: Drive not seen when Paragon NTFS is installed

Did you find a solution for this? I am facing the exact same problem. My Mac is 10.7.4 and paragon seagate driver at 9.5.2.

Any help will be appreciated. Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Re: Drive not seen when Paragon NTFS is installed

Uninstall the driver from your system, the drive should reappear as a read only drive...

then download the version available from the seagate website and try the install again...that usually corrects the issue from what I've seen...can't guarantee 100% but it should be a step in the right direction.

To all users: If your data is stored ONLY on an external hard drive, then it is NOT a backup. A BACKUP is having the data stored in TWO or MORE locations. If it is only in ONE location, you don't have a backup at all. If the data is important to you, then have it stored in multiple locations to prevent data loss.
