My FreeAgent GoFlex Desk drive came with a 1 page Quick Start Guide that only illustrated how to connect the drive to a power source and to the computer. I would really like to have a User Guide written specifically for this drive. Does anyone know if one is available, or if Seagate is working on one?

What specific information are you looking for?

I have looked every where on the seagate site for a user guide, but all I get are guides for windows.
I have installed the software which came with the drive, and it has installed an icon in my menu bar at the top of the screen with the following fuctions.
1. Stop Background Service
2.restore Files,
2.Disable Notifications
4.Purge deleted Files
And so on.
What do these all mean?
I am not a complete computer dummy, but with out instructions, do I just uninstall the Seagate software and use the drive as just a drive with Time Machine?
Would appreciate any help on this matter.
Thanks...coco37

I have found the solution get rid of the
Memeo LifeAgent.
Use Time Machine.
Time Machine is free, which Seagate implied the back-up software which can with the drive was also.
Thanks.

IS there a User Manual?

Time Machine is just for Macs? What is it, a Backup Facility?

Seagate writes pretty extensive user manuals for internal drives, but honestly external drives are much simpler to use and that is probably one of the reasons why the manuals for external drives are also simpler.
See here our How To Use section.
As for Time Machine:
Apple Time Machine 101 - Seagate Style[205691]
Using Seagate drives with Time Machine (MacOS)[207751]
Remember that Time Machine can only be used if the drive is formatted for use with Mac only. If you format it to be used with the Mac and PC intercompatibility, Time Machine is not available.
