Freeagent GoFlex (Win7 x32) issues - need to format / factory reset

hello community,

i've purchased a Freeagent GoFlex 1TB about 3 months ago in the US

the drive functioned well in the first month or so. lately it began to malfunction:

first, no access was possible, although the drive was recognized by the OS. I tried quite a few recovering programs, and after a week or so of trying succefully re-entered the drive.

a week after that same problem, this time no solution since.

i've given up on the data on it and tried to format it with no success.

the drive is recognized by windows 7, folders are empty though... 

when i try to format it doesnt allow me to, i've tried different computers, different OS, different cables...

tried seagate disc wizard, seagate windows tools, other tools

tried to format from my computer, from disk management, from safe mode

none of the above was helpful

 

any help / suggestions would be much appriciated

thank you all for your support.

 

anyways, the solution that worked for me was uninstalling AVG free 2012

then using "avg remover" :http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities

 

and all the problems gone

For the sake of your own health and sanity, if your data is important to you, keep a second copy on another storage (a backup)
