When connected by FireWire, my GoFlex (PN 1AJ9N2-501 1 TB) blocked my laptop's (2011 MacBook Pro) access to my home network wifi/internet. This problem occurred most but not all of the time. Was not able to find a solution to this problem on this Forum or in the Seagate F/A Questions. Finally found a blog from 2008 regarding FireWire connected devices. Turns out the problem was being caused by having my external hard drive physically located too close to my laptop. Moving it 10-12 inches away from the laptop cured the problem. I'm not sure whether or not this could be the cause of other problems noted with the GoFlex but it's very easy to rule out by keeping the GoFlex away from the computer.
