Dear Seagate Support
I bought myself a "FreeAgentDesktop Media", model (STAC2000200) yesterday, to serve as "Time Machine" and External Hard Drive, my choice was excluded on Seagate products because I have an old 250 GB hard drive, which is over 4 years old and still works fine, but the capacity is too small.
The new 2TB GoFlex Desk does not work as it should.
1) My iMac will not back up the hard drive using the OS X "Time Machine" if I use the drive as external and save and open files freeze my imac, the crashes and must restart.
2) If I do not use it as an External Hard Drive and only as a backup, my backup does not start.
The drive is formatted as Mac OS "journaled" as Apple requires for the Time Machine backup.
My old Seagate FreeAgentDesktop Media Hard Drive works just fine as both backup using OS X Time Machine and external drive.
What could have gone wrong and what can I do to remedy this problem?
Thanks, Danny H.
