Hi Friends, I have a GoFlex Home 2TB and my transfer rate is not exceeding 12Mbps. I researched the internet and found few solutions, please help me out your views. Before going into the solutions I would first like to confirm the transfer rate of GoFlex home, what is the maximum transfer rate?

1. Installing a gigabyte Router and changing my NIC card to gigabyte, Will it help?

2. Changing my NIC card to Fast Ethernet and my router to Fast Ethernet router will it help?(Low cost)

3. Installing a Gigabyte switch between my Router and PC+GoFlex, will it help?

The support you give may help so many like me who doesn't have a in-depth knowledge on networking!!!!

12Mbps is quite slow are you sure it is 12 megabit per second and not 12 megabytes?(1byte =8bits)

The Goflex Home should get 30 MB/sec or 240Mbps write speed. I sort of remember getting 60MB/sec but I could be confused with my USB 3 drive, but I can confirm 30MB/sec.

Option 1 is the best and will give you the maximum speed.

Option 2 should also give you better than 12Mbps - but what is your current setup? It must be more than a10Mbps system. Is it wireless, powerline?

Option 3 won't help. If your  router or your PC network card is slow then it will still be slow with the switch in line.

The transfer rate is Megabytes per sec! Thanks for sugessting me an option!

My setup is like PC -->

                        GoFlex->Router(Belkin) -->Modem.

I found Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3800) in the net! Is it a best one to use. It also has DLNA

option. ?

Does GoFlex Home support DLNA?

The Goflex Home already has a dlna Media server. You can stream your media (music , photos and video) over your network with your existing setup.

My router also has a dlna server but I haven't switched it on because I just use the Goflex home for that.

12 MB/sec is not too bad. It is good enough for streaming movies unless you want high bitrate 1080p.

Your belkin router is already Fast ethernet (100mbps) isn't it? That is why I was puzzled by your option 2. And don't forget that unless your PC network card is also gigabit or wireless N you won't get any benefit from upgrading the router.
