I purchased a GoFLex with eSata to use for larger file transfers when rebuilding laptops. I formatted the drive with a windows 7 machine, and it operates fine. I can transfer to and from the drive. I unplug the drive and plug it in to an identical windows 7 machine and it asks me to format? I can't see the files on the drive or work with it until it's formatted. If I format it, it'll only work with that machine that it was formatted on.
Whats going on here? Is this drive tagged for a single machine somehow? None of my other externals work this way.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Try running chkdsk /f to fix filessytem errors.
That isn't normal behaviour. Mine often asks to scan for errors but gives me the option of continuing anyway and doesn't tell me to format it.

Ran chkdsk /f on the drive and on the computer. Didn't make a difference. Neither of them reported errors. any other ideas?

How does it look in Disk Management on each of the win7 machines?
Also is it just a standard NTFS? How did you format it - in Windows Disk Management or 3rd party tool?
