[HELP] Can I protect folder/file in my external hard drive?

Hello, I'd like to buy Seagate FreeAgent 1TB. However, I'd like to ask, is there any possibility to protect particular folders / files in the external hard drive?

Thanks for replying, I am a very new to this kind of external hard drive thing.

Re: [HELP] Can I protect folder/file in my external hard drive?

Hello,

If you have our FreeAgent 1TB model, there is an option to encrypt the backup folder through the software, but it would not encrypt any files or folders outside of the backup folder. What is the model number off of your drive and we can double check which product you have to give you instructions.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

I don't know which one to buy yet. It might be "GoFlex Ultra-portable Drive".

I need merely to protect the folders inside the external hard  drive. So when it's opened, the system would ask for the password. It is also considered as backup?

Thanks for your replying again.
